perhaps a perfect tune. i've considered this my #1 favorite gizz song for a long time! now my top 3 kind of all share that #1 spot but it's still my favorite in my heart. i remember first hearing it in a live clip not knowing what song it was and thinking oh my GOD what is this. i need it in my veins.

apparently i really like all their religion-coded songs. i can't even give a good explanation for why i like this one so much? there's no deep meaning here. it's just worked its way into my brain like a worm and it lives there forever now. something about it just vibrates at the same frequency as my soul or something. loveee the kooky guitar solo and the gang vocals and the repetition and the everything else

HIGHWAY DEATH BY MOTOR SPIRIT!! holy cow what an album opener. the riff is so fun... my favorite part though is the third section when they slow it down and it feels like being run over by a steamroller. something about the rhythm of the vocals in that verse really works for me. also drink the fuckin gas and killeth. and the sweet juice on my lips, motorized apocalypse line. very good

love a song in locrian!!! also i really dig the apocalyptic vibes.. the concept of describing aliens watching our planet (and us) bake from afar is dread-inducing and very very cool. this is the album that got me into them too! or rather the KEXP session for it did.

The Dripping Tap

i like this song live but specifically the studio version is my favorite. if that makes sense. it's so deeply layered i feel like i could listen to it on repeat for a day and still not notice everything going on in it. this is a tune to listen to on good headphones and just swim around in it. there's so much to hear! it's a hundred-layer dip of groove.

The Land Before Timeland

oh man. 15 minutes of nothing but tasty tasty riffs. the "teleportality.. teleport you and me" verse really does it for me. absolutely criminal they haven't played this live yet. even worse they didn't open dc '24 with it.

Altered Beast II

OUGHHH I LOVE ALTERED BEAST II!! altered beast suite is my favorite MOTU suite. sorry han tyumi. you just can't beat trans-coded evil beast transformation. or these riffs. the "tell me would you honestly.." part changed me. ALSO! leah senior's parts in this are the bestest. my left hand is a knife and my right is a fork. i will pull you apart like a butcher pulls pork. are you fucking joking that's so cool
